University-approved Housing

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln has an on-campus residency policy that requires first-year students to reside in University-owned residence halls or other University-approved living units, which may include privately-owned and operated fraternities and sororities, provided they meet the annual requirements necessary to be granted University-approved housing status.

Understanding Suspended Organizations

Simply stated, a fraternity or sorority does not exist in the Nebraska community when it loses recognition. This loss of status means the organization has been suspended from the university for a period of time.

At UNL, the health and safety of our students has always been a priority. All Recognized Student Organizations (RSOs) are held to a high standard of operating according to guidelines and regulations and this includes the fraternities and sororities that are a part of the FSL community. Occasionally, actions may be taken to help ensure that these standards are upheld and can be implemented in various ways.
